What is 'Artificial green wall'?

The Artificial Green Wall system is a combination of scientific knowledge of plants, engineering technologies and art expression.

Artificial Green Wall with the names of Vertical Garden, Planting Wall, is using non-climbing plants. The plants root in growth medium housed in modular. The plants get water and minerals from the growth medium. Irrigation system is essential, with automatic control. The artificial green wall could be implemented both indoor and outdoor. The 3 biggest advantages of this system over others are:
1. Providing an instant effect after installation since the panels are pre-grown
2. Easily re-vegetated and replaced when problem occurs
3. Wider selection of plants

4 main components:

3. Illumination (artificial light is normally necessary indoor)
4. Supporting sub-frame (holding the green wall to the implemented wall)

Benefits of Artificial Green Wall:

Environmental

With no doubt, going green is becoming increasingly attractive as a business strategy. According to researches, green walls and other planting help to create a positive perception for prospective purchasers of goods. If you want to win your competitors and gain the first impression of customers, implanting a green wall would be a quickest way to showcase your brand image!

Besides, by improving the environment performance and giving immediate character and warmth, green walls have the significant potential to increase both residential and commercial property values by 7% to 15%.

Social

Green wall may have a positive impact on both physical and mental health. Green views and access to green spaces in cities help and relieve the everyday pressures of crowding and noise. A hygienic, soothing and aesthetically pleasing working environment inspires fresh ideas and impact peace-of-mind.

Energy saving

Interior green walls help to save energy! Through the process known as transpiration plants actually cool their surrounding environment slightly. Therefore a green wall, with hundreds of plants, can reduce the temperature of a room by anywhere from 3 to 7 degree calculus. Some studies have shown that interior green walls can cut electricity bills up by 20%!

LEED® Credits

LEED®, which stands for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognized green building certification system. Categories cover issues of sustainability, energy savings, indoor air quality, health & wellness, and acoustics, among others.

The following chart lists potential credits that can be earned by the installation of a green wall either on the interior or exterior of a building.

HK – BEAM Plus (Building Environmental Assessment Method Plus)

BEAM Plus is a comprehensive environmental assessment scheme for buildings recognized by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC). It is available for New Buildings and Existing Buildings, a new assessment tool targeting for fit-out, renovation and refurbishment projects of non-domestic, occupied spaces specifically for Hong Kong. It is applicable to office and retail premises, hotel rooms and function rooms, restaurants, educational facilities and institutional facilities such as hospitals.
